ethos
Community Classroom brings together speakers, doers, makers and shakers to exchange knowledge and experience on topics of sustainable living. The project was founded in the early 2000s by a group of friends looking for ways to increase resilience in the community in response to climate change impacts and economic downturns. This focus is just as important today as it was then, and that is why we continue to keep the project alive helping people to reduce living costs, adapt to a changing climate, navigate environmental concerns, and increase community resilience.
Workshops, classes, and talks happen in Oamaru throughout the year.
Classes include worm farming, composting techniques, permaculture principles, beekeeping, fermenting foods, homemade breads, body therapies, dance, music, weaving, knitting, upcycling, recycling, rainwater collection, and more!
